Toy Hunters Jordan Hembrough Talks Vintage 1972 Kenner Blythe Dolls

After I wrote the blog about the new show Toy Hunters and it's terrific host, Jordan Hembrough, I was determined to ask him a few questions so I found his Facebook and sent him a public message on one of his updates.

I figured it was a long shot since he was in the midst of filming twelve episodes but regardless I still had to try because i believe that if you don't take a chance then you will not even have the opportunity.

So I decided to lay it all out and put it out there so that maybe I would be able to find out  if our little vintage diva and other creepy cute retro dolls would be featured too!  This is what I actually wrote him:

"Hi Jordan, I love your new Toy Hunters show on the Travel Channel! I caught the first episode this past Sunday and I have already blogged about how great it was. Do you know when the new episodes will be out? Will we see anything on my favorite toy the 1972 Kenner Blythe dolls? I also would love to see stuff on other creepy yet cute dolls that are similar like: Flatsy, little miss no name, leggy, emerald the witch and I'm sure there are a lot more. I am really looking forward to the future episodes and hopefully even more will follow :D "

This morning I was so pleasantly surprised that Jordan had actually taken time out of his busy schedule to shoot me back a response!!!  I was over the moon because it was great news!!!!

"Hi Anna_ YES on all accounts! I am so glad you liked the show and we are working hard to bring you a great series!"  Jordan
How freakin cool is that!  I wonder what other dolls he will feature, I bet there are many that we don't even know about!

I posted the actual pic convo on my Photobucket if anyone would like to see :D  YES, I AM A DORK hahaha!

Love,
AnnaBlytheDoll xo

Blythe Doll Care & Tips ( Stains & Storage )

There is so much information out there concerning Blythe doll tips and care that I thought that I would combine what I learned from my own experience over the years and all that I found out from researching the web into this single blog. Storage - When storing blythe dolls it seems that often there is a chemical reaction with plastics that causes melting. So when storing or traveling with your dolls, please be sure that the doll is not touching other plastic (stands, shoes - especially Rosebuds, dolls arms & legs, etc.). Plastic from the face has even melted when the legs of another doll has touched, so please do not store together or any other part touching will melt the doll if stored, it is ideal not to put the dolls together and keep separate. I wouldn't even store the doll contacting the dolls own arms and/or legs to the face. Some even wrap their dolls in a piece of cotton. Stains - Please be careful of denim, tights and black & red clothing. They are probl...

The "Blythe Bible"

I was sent a Blythe Folder containing pretty much the beginnings of Kenner Blythe Dolls information, by the Toy Hunter, Jordan Hembrough, for my collection.  He told me that he was sending me what he called a "Blythe Bible", a file filled basically with designs, pricing, handwritten notes, etc. from a former Kenner employee that he had acquired during one of his hunts. The Toy Hunter said that I could post the contents to share with all Blythe Collectors too and he also told me that it's been over 40 years that it was not subject to any copy write restrictions. It's all photocopies that I have, with a few color copies, and not the originals, but they're still great for referencing! If you are a major collector of Blythe dolls this is probably like plastic crack for you. lol Others may not really care about these but I did find them very interesting myself. He sent it to me a few years ago but unfortunately it wasn't the right time to post it with all that n...

Products That Help Reduce or Eliminate Yellowing On 1972 Kenner Blythe Dolls And Link To Blythe411 Reduce The Frizz Tips.

On Blytheworld Facebook my facebook dolly friend, FiFi Latrixabel, posted she had won a yellowed blonde Kenner Blythe, her Lemon girl, and is attempting to bleach her dolly to have her go back to the original skin color face plate.  She is using Pearl Drops but there were other suggestions too.  I logged it on my Blythe411 Facebook group with permission from Fiona and another member that had some tips. Pearl Drops "Worth a try until I can get my stuff together for a major skin bleaching session." Fiona W.  Snipped from Fiona's post on BlytheWorld with her permission. Update pic of Fiona's lovely blonde kb!  I think the yellowing is fading with the pearl drops and the doll is looking very lovely!  I can't wait to see the after pictures :D "The formula is called RetroBrite. It removes yellowing from older plastics and returns them to their original color/state. Hope this works." Adrian D. L. Snipped from the following thread with permi...
